Scargo

The New version of escargo
S-Cargo was derived from the French word "escargo " , or snail .
The meaning was multifaceted in that it came to represent many things .
A snail is a somewhat magical creature who has evolved through the eons of time to be creature that can be beautiful , dangerous and practical . it can be food , it can be a pest ...it can be seen as practical by always bringing it's home with it wherever it goes...it can be valuable and collectible.
The sea and land are abundant with many variations. some are amazingly beautiful and colorful...others require a sharp eye to detect in their natural surroundings ... some are dangerous. some are both beautiful and dangerous .
We sometimes marvel at the survival for millennia of a creature with one large foot , no skeletal structure and limited eyesight ....and yest they are all around us . theyar leave evidence of their journeys in the form of a shiny trail the trace their epic treks .
This same idea is the essence of "S-Cargo" the brand . it comes in many forms , it can allow you to bring some of your "home" with you or protect you from environment , express your individual taste and sense of self .
It can be beautiful and cause you to smile ... or it can be practical and reliable .
It can represent where you have been , or wish to go .
We celebrate this small creature and it's ability to thrive in this world.
We strive to do the same through our products and brand philosophy .
We are S-Cargo

Scargo
Scargo = Escargot = Creating

The Legend of Scargo lake
The Legend of Scargo Lake
Lake Scargo in Dennis, MA (on Cape Cod) is the home of a colorful Native American legend about how the Lake came to be -- one of many such Native tales about the origins of natural phenomena and landmarks. Princess Scargo, daughter of chief Sagem of the Bobuset tribe, is presented with four little fish by a suitor, and the rest is the stuff of legend. Today, you can find descendants of these silvery fish (no, not silverfish) in Scargo Lake. And you can get a good look at the Lake, and the surrounding territoryterritorty, by climbing Scargo Tower in East Dennis. Not a terribly high structure, but it's located atop the highest point on the Cape, so the view is pretty impressive.
But we got a look at an even more impressive tower, which affords an even more impressive view: Pilgrim Monument, the 252-ft. monolith in Provincetown, right on the tip of the Cape. The tower commemorates the arrival of the Pilgrims in November 1620, when they hammered out the groundbreaking Mayflower Compact. The cornerstone was laid in 1907 by Pres. Theodore Roosevelt for this controversially designed structure modeled after the Torre del Mangia in Siena, Italy, and construction was completed in 1910.
We biked to Provincetown from Nickerson State Park, a distance of about 35 miles, and stayed at a campground just outside town in our teeny tiny tents. Then we used our bikes to explore this colorful little seaside resort with lots of historic buildings, the largest percentage of Portuguese population in the country, and also the largest percentage gay population. Although the year-round census is only 3500, it explodes to 50,000 during the summer.
There are three resident theatres in this town that was once the home of playwrights Tennessee Williams and Eugene O'Neil, as well as novelist Norman Mailer.

The story of Princess Scargo
The Story of Princess Scargo
The View from Scargo Tower .The history of Dennis takes root deep in the early days of the Cape. Many of its landmarks are steeped in Indian lore including Scargo Lake (just off Route 6A), one of the deepest bodies of water on Cape Cod. According to legend, the tale of Princess Scargo begins when a tribesman and potential suitor brought her a hollow pumpkin filled with water and fishes. She placed her gift in a small pool but after it dried up, the princess was frantic. Her father, sachem of the tribe, ordered a basin dug. The precious fish were saved by the autumn rains which filled the basin and formed Scargo Lake. The lake is even thought to be fish-shaped.
One version of this legend says that the princess drowned from the onslaught of rain but the lake has been well-stocked with fish ever since. Her death was viewed as a sacrifice since she saved her village by being the agent for much-needed rains. The earth thrown out from the making of the lake formed Scargo Hill on which stands one of the highest structures on Cape Cod: Scargo Tower. According to the Dennis Historical Society, Scargo Tower began as a tourist observatory in 1874. When the wood structure burned down in 1900, the 30-foot tower was rebuilt in cobblestone and opened in 1901. From the top of Scargo Tower can be seen an 80-mile view around Cape Cod Bay, from Plymouth to Provincetown.
This is a beautiful spot to watch a summer sunset. Climb the 37-step spiral staircase and enjoy the vista below. You won’t regret it!
